Teresa Martins

Founder & CEO

Graduated in Systems Engineering and Computer Science in 1991, by the University of Minho and IT Masters, at the same university in 1998, she began her professional career in software development in industrial weighing systems.

From 1998 to 2001, she leads the Artificial Vision Department at IDITE Minho, Braga, as a project manager, an area that became her professional pursuit since then. In 2001 as co-founder, she created ENERMETER – Measurement Systems, consisting of two areas of operation; Measurement Systems and Artificial Vision Systems focused on conceiving, developing and installing automatic systems, based on image processing and artificial vision technologies, for the most varied industrial sectors of both national and international markets.

To encourage business growth, in 2017, Neadvance – Machine Vision is founded as a spin-off of Enermeter’s Artificial Vision department, being the co-founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors.

In 2019, AI4Medimaging was born, a company dedicated to the research and development of solutions that support clinical diagnosis, as a spin-off of Neadvance’s medical research department, Teresa Martins is the co-founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Manuel Machado

Graduated in Electronic and Industrial Engineering in 1998, by the University of Minho, he began his professional career in Electricity Product Management in 1996 at Schlumberger Sistemas de Medição Lda.

From 1998 to 2001, he takes full responsibility as the Electricity Sales Director, coordinating the commercial strategy at national level for a key customer, EDP (Eletricidade de Portugal). In 2001 as co-founder and CEO, he created ENERMETER – Measurement Systems, consisting of two areas of operation; Measurement Systems, providing a range of services for measurement, control and management of energy resources and fluids associated with
network and utility consumption. The Artificial Vision area focused on conceiving, developing and installing automatic inspection systems, based on image processing and artificial vision technologies, for the most varied industrial sectors of both national and international markets.

In 2014 was nominated as Business Ambassador by InvestBraga, the Agency for the Economic Dynamization of Braga, playing a fundamental role in stimulating the economy, attracting investment to the region and encouraging the dynamism of the local economy.

In 2017, Neadvance – Machine Vision was founded as a spin-off of Enermeter’s Artificial Vision department to encourage business growth, Manuel Machado is a co-founder and active member of the Board of Directors. In 2018, he became a member of UN1QNX SA Board of Directors, a company based in the north of Portugal (Braga) dedicated to cyber-physical solutions for authentication.

António Murta

Board Member

António is Managing Partner, co-founder and CEO of Pathena. Also, António serves as a non-exec board member of two companies of Pathena’s portfolio and is an observer in the board of other portfolio companies.

António has a degree in systems engineering from Minho University, an MBA from Porto Business School (University of Porto), an AMP from INSEAD (France). Has also done postgraduate studies at ISEE/ University of Navarra (Spain) and MIT (Sloan School of Management US) and Singularity University (US) – Exponential Medicine.

From 1991 to 1997, he was the corporate information officer of Sonae Distribuição, the largest Portuguese retailer. He founded and was CEO of Enabler from 1998 onwards – Enabler was a systems integrator strictly focused in retail. Wipro acquired Enabler in 2006, and from then to the end of 2009, he was VP of retail services at Wipro.

He is also a Founding Partner and business angel of various other IT and MedTech companies. António is the Co-Chairman of the fund-raising committee of the University of Minho, Advisory Board Member of School of Nursing of the University of Minho, Advisory Board Member of INL, Advisory Board Member of INESC Porto, Member of Medical Degree Evaluation Committee in Medical School of the University of Minho, Member of the Strategic Council of
VdA, Vieira de Almeida Sociedade de Advogados and Member of Digital Advisory Board of Caixa Geral de Depósitos. He is also a seasoned speaker in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Manuel J. Ferreira

Head of Research, Development & Innovation

Manuel J. Ferreira received a B.Sc. degree in electronics and telecommunications from Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal, in 1992, and an M.Sc. degree in Industrial Informatics, as well as a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Electronics from Universidade, do Minho, Guimarães, Portugal, in 1996 and 2004, respectively.

Between 1992 and 1999, he was a researcher at INESC Porto and a Professor at Universidade Lusíada. In this period, he developed his Master´s thesis resulting in a system installed in several companies spanning four different countries (Portugal; Spain; Brazil and Australia).

From 1999 to 2001, he was the technical coordinator of the Computer Vision Department at IDITE-Minho, Research Institute.
Starting in 2001 until 2012 he was a Professor in the Industrial Electronics Department at Universidade do Minho, teaching in the fields of image and signal processing, working with several companies, helping them to specify and develop a large number of Computer Vision solutions for different industrial sectors, such as plastic; textile; leather; automotive;beverage; agro-food; robotics and multimedia.

From 2008 to 2012, he was the coordinator of the Computer Vision Group of CCG Research Institute. From 2012 to 2017 was the R&D Computer Vision coordinator at ENERMETER. Currently, he is the head of Research, Development & Innovation department at NEADVANCE. His main research interests include image processing, image analysis and artificial intelligence. Since 1992 he has been working mainly on the development of computer vision
and machine learning technologies based on advanced algorithms, applied to industrial applications and medical imaging.

Ramiro Marques

Head of Delivery Operations

Ramiro Marques holds a degree in Systems and Informatics Engineering from the University of Minho.

With over 25 years of experience, Ramiro Marques has started his career in the IT Department at Sonae Group, withholding several projects and responsibilities.

In 1997 he joined Enabler at Sonae Group, where he started his career in the project management domain.

With a strong background in the retail business, he embraced the IT Department once again at Sonae Group in 2003 as the Applicational Support Manager, performing a variety of roles such as; Innovative Project Management and Business Partner.

In 2013, he accepted a new challenge and moved on to Tlantic performing roles in Client Engagement, Pre-Sales, Product Management and Senior Retail Consultancy and Coordination.

By 2019, Ramiro Marques joined Neadvance, a technological company in Braga, as a Delivery Manager, and assumed the position of Head of Delivery Operations.

Carla Almeida

Head of Human Resources

Carla is the Head of Human Resources and Corporate Support Services. Carla has a degree in Public Relations, Marketing and Advertising, and an Advanced Program in Human Resources.

With over 25 years of work experience, Carla started her professional background in 1994 as Marketing and Comercial Assistant.

In 2002 she joined Enabler and had started her career in the HR domain. Later on, Enabler´s acquisition moved on to Wipro Technologies, where she performed as Global Talent Acquisition Manager. In 2014 joined Tlantic as Global HR Manager.

In January 2018 assumed the position of Head of HR and Corporate Support Services at Neadvance.
The passion for people and for the key role they play in business success drives Carla’s activity every day.

José Pedro Ferreira

Head of Business Development & Sales

José Pedro Ferreira is the Head of Business Development and Sales of Neadvance. He has been in the company since 2005 and started as a developer; he was actively involved in the first systems exported to Europe and APAC region performing several roles, namely project and product manager, to then move forward as an account manager.

José Pedro has a degree in electronic and computer engineering, specializing in telecommunications and signal processing from Faculty of Engineering (University of Porto), an executive MBA from Porto Business School and participation in the Leading in a Global World Program from McCombs School of Business (the University of Texas in Austin).

Before joining Neadvance, he worked at INESCTEC as a developer, had a management role for a Machine Vision European project at Idite Minho, and collaborated with the Informatic Department of Minho’s University in the publication of research papers.

Susana Araújo de Carvalho

Head of Finance & Control

Susana is the Head of Finance & Control at Neadvance – Machine Vision, S.A, responsible for providing overall financial performance, namely the key financial indicators, overall cash management, internal control and auditing. She always manages to anticipate the forecasting needs of their internal clients, ensuring accurate financial information to all stakeholders, so they can perform the optimal strategic decisions to accomplish Neadvance goals.

With more than 18 years of experience in Business Management, she previously worked as a Senior Corporate Controller in Primavera Business Software Solutions, where she was responsible for the financial reporting and forecast for companies and its business units within five different geographies. Before that, she led the Management Control & Risk team in one of the largest Construction and Public Works companies in Portugal, with operations in several countries and sectors (Real Estate, Environment and Energy and Retail).

She was responsible for the development and maintenance of reporting systems and monitoring the performance of the assets throughout periodic financial statements, budgeting and forecasts and Business Plans.

Susana holds a Business Management degree from Minho’s University and executive training in Performance Assessment Management Control from Porto Business School.
